Strategy meeting from USSF

ussfBelow is a list of strategies and website that came out of the USSF Workshop, "A War Economy or an Economy of Peace?" organized by WILPF, Bite the Bullet: War Profiteering Education & Action Network and the WRL. A significant part of the discussion focused on the nuclear weapons complex.

Strategies to dismantle the war economy

  4. Faith Based/Moral
  5. Expose the ties & consequences
  6. Challenging notion of “National Security”
  7. Borrow strategies from successful movements (Environmental Justice, Animal Rights, AIDS Activist…)
  8. Wreak Economic Damage/Lower Opportunity Costs
  9. Language – Choose great names to split consciousness
  10. Visibility
  11. Local initiatives – nuclear free zones, etc. Mayors for peace.
  12. Leverage Consumer Power (Girlcotts, Boycotts)
  13. Union campaigns
  14. Nonviolent Direct Action

  16. Illuminate costs of militarism; show positive vision – Economic Conversion
